PLAYING WITH PAINT: WALL DESIGN IDEAS

There’s so much focus on finding furniture and art that can make a big impact in our spaces—but what about our walls?

Using a bold color  or adding funky details on our walls can help create an interesting, eye-catching backdrop to our spaces—and can be the key to tying the whole room together.

Here are a few recent examples of how Jen Talbot Design used wall paint to perfectly accent a room.

MAKE A GRAND ENTRANCE

Your entry serves as an introduction to your space. This is where you greet friends and family, where you pause to take off your shoes after a long day, and where you inevitably rush through when you’re running late.

We spend so much time in this space—why not make it memorable? In our recent Wayne project, we chose a bold black paint to make a big statement. We kept the furniture and accessories monochromatic, adding in pops of bronze for dramatic effect. This is a room you wouldn’t dare forget.

We extended the same paint color onto the trim—to visually signal the area as a standalone from the surrounding spaces, and to make it pop with contrast in the process.

ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS

In our Adler Showhouse, we had so many standout pieces in the room—including our custom Tiger Bedthat we wanted the walls to join the party.

By adding small geometric accents in a slightly deeper color, we created nuanced visual interest—small, subtle details that invite the viewer to pause for a closer look. It’s not reinventing the wheel; it’s simply adding a bit of flair. This is a fun, low-risk design choice that can take on many iterations and put a funky, modern twist in your space.
